. The backlash has intensified as a lawyer has officially lodged a complaint against Ranveer, social media influencer

Samay
Raina and the show’s organizers.
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has launched a large-scale investigation, filing complaints against 30-40 individuals involved in the show. Officials have confirmed that legal notices are being issued, and all those associated with the first six episodes will be called in for questioning.
Amid the growing controversy, actress and reality TV personality Rakhi Sawant, who has also appeared on the show in Episode 12, has stepped in to defend Ranveer Allahbadia, urging the public to forgive him. Speaking to ETimes, Rakhi questioned the selective outrage, stating, “One person made a mistake, but why target everyone else? Ranveer said something wrong, and I agree it was inappropriate, but why only attack Samay Raina? When Nawazuddin Siddiqui did bold scenes in Sacred Games, nobody objected. If you’re banning this show, then all OTT platforms should be shut down too. This is unfair.”

Rakhi further pointed out what she perceives as double standards in the industry, referencing incidents involving singer Udit Narayan and Mika Singh. She also criticized the lack of public outrage over serious crimes like rape and molestation while a podcast faces immense scrutiny.
“Samay is not the first person to use abusive language. I can show you many shows where people openly talk about sex and genitals. Why is only one show being targeted? If they really want to save this country, then all such vulgar shows should be shut down,” Rakhi said.
She further added, “Udit Narayan kissed a female fan on the lips, but no one said anything about it. We see so many rape cases in our country, yet no one raises their voice. Women are being raped and molested, they are not safe, but still, no one shows outrage. No one has spoken against Udit Narayan for kissing his female fans. When Mika kissed me in public, I dragged him to the police station and made him run to the police station for nearly two decades.”
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken note of the issue, summoning Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, and producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra to appear before them on February 17 in New Delhi.
Following government directives, YouTube India has blocked the episode containing the controversial remark. The backlash has also impacted Ranveer Allahbadia’s popular podcast, as singer B Praak reportedly canceled his scheduled appearance.
With legal proceedings and public scrutiny mounting, the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent is far from over. Amid all this, Samay is yet to public comment on the whole episode and is currently in the US for his comedy tour.
