PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen moved closer to entering the top ten rankings for men’s and women’s singles following their victories in Syed Modi International

India’s badminton stars PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen moved closer to entering the top ten rankings for men’s and women’s singles following their victories in Syed Modi International tournament. Sindhu defeated Wu Luo Yu in the finals of the women’s single event while Sen locked horns with Jia Heng Jason Teh. Both stars were looking out of touch ahead of the tournament and were desperate to return to form.

PV Sindhu jumped by two places to settle in the 16th position on the rankings for women’s singles. In 58 matches, she has amassed 58,112 points and her victory in Syed Modi International tournament propelled her from 18th spot to 16th. Lakshya Sen also witnessed a jump by 2 spots to settle at the 12th position in the updated rankings for men’s singles. In 17 tournaments, Sen has managed to score 63,668 points. It is pertinent to point out that both Sindhu and Sen are the highest ranked Indian stars currently.

Latest news

PV Sindhu has been a stalwart in Indian badminton arena, but her performance lately has been somewhat inconsistent. Her last significant win was at the Singapore Open in 2022. This year, she made it to the finals at the Malaysia Masters, but early exits have been a concern, including a surprising first-round loss to Canada’s Michelle Li in Finland.

Lakshya Sen achieved a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships and won the Canada Open in 2023, he showed great promise in recent career. However, his journey this year has been mixed, with early exits overshadowing his semifinal finishes at prestigious tournaments like the All-England Championships and the Paris Olympics.
