NEW DELHI:
Pune Police
have arrested another person suspected of involvement in the manipulation of the blood sample of the
minor accused
, said officials.
This comes hours after a startling revelation made earlier by Pune Police, indicating that the blood samples of the 17-year-old boy allegedly involved in the car crash were disposed of and replaced with samples from another individual, as directed by a doctor from Sassoon General Hospital.
According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the juvenile’s father allegedly contacted the doctor and offered incentives to facilitate the switch of blood samples. As a result, the report received from the hospital showed no traces of alcohol, despite the police’s assertion that the teenager was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The fatal accident, which claimed the lives of two IT professionals after their motorcycle was struck by a speeding Porsche reportedly driven by the minor, has sparked outrage and intensified scrutiny on the case.
Dr Ajay Taware
, head of Sassoon General Hospital’s Forensic Medicine department, and Dr Shrihari Halnor, the hospital’s chief medical officer, have been arrested in connection with the
blood sample manipulation
. Investigations have revealed that Dr Taware orchestrated the replacement of the blood samples on his instructions.
Additionally, the juvenile’s father has been implicated as a co-conspirator in the case, having allegedly made multiple calls to Dr Taware to arrange the tampering of evidence.
In light of these developments, stringent legal action has been taken, with charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including causing disappearance of evidence, criminal conspiracy, and others, being filed against the accused parties.
