The first season of “The Family Man”, which was released in 2019, received critical acclaim, and the second season was also well-received.
Priyamani fondly recalled her experience of working with celebrated director Mani Ratnam on his 2010 Tamil film ‘Raavanan’ and its Hindi version, ‘Raavan’. Highlighting the significance of collaborating with Ratnam, she expressed her admiration, saying, “A call from Mani sir would be like, ‘I would cut my right hand to work in a Mani Ratnam film.’” She praised his exceptional body of work and emphasized that one would gladly go to great lengths to be part of his projects.
The ‘Jawan’ actress shared that Ratnam wanted her to avoid taking a dramatic approach to her role as Jamuni, the sister of Abhishek Bachchan’s character in the Hindi version of ‘Raavan’. For her role as Vennila in the Tamil version, she was encouraged to move beyond traditional acting and focus on authentic reactions. Mani Ratnam urged her to envision how the character would truly respond in real-life situations, steering away from dramatics to make the portrayal as natural and believable as possible. Priyamani explained how this guidance helped her embody Vennila more organically, enhancing the depth and realism of her performance.
She is also thrilled to start filming for Thalapathy Vijay’s 69th film by H Vinoth, titled ‘Jana Nayagan’.
In ‘The Family Man’ series, Priyamani plays Suchitra, the wife of Manoj Bajpayee’s character, Srikant.
