‘, and the much-awaited movie serves as a sequel to the 2019 hit
Lucifer
. Ahead of the film’s release on March 27, the filmmaker-turned-actor has drawn a comparison between the trilogy and Christopher Nolan’s ‘The
Dark Knight
‘ trilogy.
During a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Prithviraj highlighted the unconventional approach taken in Lucifer and its sequel, where the story unfolds amid turmoil before the protagonist makes an entrance.
While discussing this method, he noted that although it is not a conventional storytelling device in most films, its effectiveness depends on the director’s perspective and execution. He further drew a comparison to what he considers the pinnacle of superhero filmmaking—Christopher Nolan’s
The Dark Knight trilogy
. He pointed out that in these films, the protagonist isn’t necessarily the first character introduced, yet their presence is deeply felt throughout.

“You never really feel that you’re not watching the protagonist. Because the whole film builds an atmosphere or aura around you, even without the central character being there, that keeps telling you that you’re actually watching him, even though you’re not looking at him,” Prithviraj explained.
He revealed that Lucifer and ‘L2: Empuraan’ have drawn inspiration from this narrative style. He credited screenwriter Murali Gopy for implementing this technique in the first film and continuing it in the sequel.
“…which is what Murali Gopy, my writer, has tried to do with Lucifer Part 1. Much like that, even in Part 2, the film starts off in the middle of chaos, and very soon, you realise that this chaos can be fixed with one man returning or one man reappearing,” he elaborated.
‘L2: Empuraan’ also features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in key roles.
