President Droupadi Murmu
on Saturday arrived in Shimla on a 5 days
visit
to Himachal Pradesh. President Murmu along with her family members landed in the helicopter at Kalyani helipad near Chharabra at 10.15 am where she was welcomed by the
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla
, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Assembly speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and health minister Dhaniram Shandil.
Droupadi Murmu will be in Himachal Pradesh till May 8 and during her visit, the President will stay at the Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra near Shimla.
On May 6, she will attend the 7th convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala while on May 7, she will witness a cultural programme at the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, Shimla. Later, she will attend a dinner hosted by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh at Raj Bhawan, Shimla.
In wake of the President’s visit, tight security arrangements have been made in Shimla and around 1500 police personnel have been deployed in the city.
Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil has been designated as the minister-in-waiting for the visit of the President in Shimla while Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar will be the minister-in-waiting during the President’s visit to Dharamshala.
