starrer ‘Kalki 2998 AD’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It is being reported that North India theatrical rights for the film have been picked up for Rs 100 crore by Anil Thadani. The makers have amped up the excitement of the film after they introduced the character of
Ashwatthama
played by
Amitabh Bachchan
and that of Bhairava, essayed by Prabhas.
The film, which is slated for release on June 27, is set to have an animated prelude which is aimed at offering viewers a sneak peek into the intricate world of director
Nag Ashwin
’s sci-fi drama. This prelude will give the audience a context and setting about the film. The rights for this prelude has been picked up by an OTT platform and Prabhas has also dubbed for the same.
ETimes has exclusively learnt that the prelude is actually a cluster of four episodes with a run of around 20 to 25 minutes for each episode. Our source also revealed that the prelude will be dropped by the end of April or in the start of May, which will then be followed by promotions and other marketing assets. Thus, the makers plan to set the stage in a grand manner for the release of ‘Kalki 2998 AD’.
A few months ago, director Nag Ashwin had shed light on the film’s concept during a conversation at IIT Bombay and shared, “In India, we do not have a lot of sci-fi films. We have done a few time travel films. This one is different because it’s in a whole separate world on its own. Also, in the international sense, it is new because we have not seen India in a future setting or dystopian setting. So now we don’t have to look at London and New York being born, now we can see our cities also.”
‘
Kalki 2898 AD
