“We want to remind the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of the promises they made in the parliament, at different places across the country and in J&K as well regarding restoration of rights and constitutional guarantees snatched from us” said Karra, while addressing party workers here.

The JKPCC president said that assembly elections were held here on the directions of Supreme Court here but they have also directed to restore statehood which the BJP government has not fulfilled till now.

“On September 19, Prime Minister of India while addressing an election rally here in Srinagar reiterated the promise that BJP will fulfil its commitment of restoration of statehood,” said Karra adding, “PM has the moral responsibility to fulfill the promises so that the our jobs and land are protected and natural resources will remain of the people of J&K.”

The Congress has six legislators in the assembly, inclduing Karra and the party is supporting the National Conference government here from outside.

“Congress has a principled stand that statehood should be restored…From the capital city of Srinagar we want to send this message to the parliament that this promise should not turn out to be yet another jumla,” said Karra.

The Congress leader said that something promised on the floor of the parliament should not be yet another attempt to befool 140 crore citizens of India.

“BJP has used J&K as a voting machine to garner votes across India. Now at least they should fulfil the promise before the conclusion of the ongoing parliament session,” said Karra.

The Congress has decided to celebrate the constitution day on November 26, at district level to reiterate that the same constitution gave J&K it’s rights snatched from the people of J&K.

“The constitution which binds this country is being torn apart which we won’t allow,” said Karra.
