PKL wrap: The Haryana Steelers racked up their first victory of the Pro Kabaddi League season on Thursday as they brushed aside the Jaipur Pink Panthers at the GMCB Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli at Hyderabad. Haryana Steelers claimed a 37-25 victory on the night with Vinay, Naveen and Shivam Patare starring for the Haryana Steelers.
Meanwhile, the Bengal Warriorz took down the UP Yoddhas with a scoreline of 32-29 on Thursday at the GMCB Indoor Stadium, in Gachibowli at Hyderabad. The Bengal Warriorz won the contest with the likes of Maninder Singh, Sushil Kambrekar and Nitin Dhankhar being the standout players, while Bharat put his hand up and scored 13 points for the UP Yoddhas.
How Haryana Steelers beat Jaipur Pink Panthers
In the Steelers versus Pink Panthers clash, Haryana Steelers were up by three points in the blink of an eye. Naveen and Vinay caused the Jaipur issues from the start while the rest of the Steelers’ defensive chain did well to keep their opponents at bay in the early phase.
While it was Naveen who was propelling the Steelers in the initial phases of the first half, Vinay had the biggest impact by totalling nine points in the first half. His points were the difference as the Haryana Steelers went into the half-time break with the scoreline reading 20-11.
But Jaipur Pink Panthers came back hungry in the second half. The team picked up the first points, but the Haryana Steelers had enough points in the bank. Midway through the second half, Haryana Steelers led by 12 points as Vinay and Naveen accounting for 16 points by themselves. Vinay ended up completing his Super 10. Eventually, the Haryana Steelers walked off the mat with a comprehensive win.
How Bengal Warriorz beat UP Yoddhas
It was Maninder Singh who picked up the majority of the points in the early exchanges for the Bengal Warriorz.
His early burst meant that UP Yoddhas fell behind in the early phase of the play in the first quarter itself. Thanks to Maninder Singh and the in-form Nitin Dhankhar going hammer and tongs at their opponents.
The Bengal Warriorz went into the half-time break with the score reading 12-11.
Eventually, the Bengal Warriorz came away with their first win of the season, thanks to Maninder Singh (eight points), Sushil Kambrekar (seven) and Nitin Kumar (seven).
