In a bid to woo IPL discards, the PCB will pay a sum of $100,000 to six elite foreign players taking part in PSL 10
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will pay $100,000 to six foreign players who will be taking part in Pakistan Super League (PSL 10). The money will be shelled out by the board from a special fund ($1 million) in an attempt to ease the burden on the franchises. The move is aimed at not only assisting the franchises but also to reward the players for their participation in the tournament. The likes of David Warner and Kane Williamson are set to benifit from this scheme.
Before the PSL 10 draft, the PCB had shared a list of foreign players with special notes to the franchises. As per the policy, a franchise does not have to pay the full fee to the player. Instead, the PCB will pay some amount as assitance to the team. For example, David Warner was drafted to Karachi Kings for $300,000. Now the franchise will pay him $200,000 while the PCB will shell out $100,000.
“Warner for example came onboard for a fee of USD 300,000 and 100,000 of this will be paid to him by the PCB from the special fund. The PCB will use this fund to assist in paying some of the elite players who signed on during the players draft,” a PSL official told IANS.
