PBKS Qualification Scenarios: Can Kings of Punjab still qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs?

The Punjab Kings are once again back in the IPL playoff scenario. In their last game against CSK, they shocked men in yellow by chasing target of 162 with 13 balls still to go at the tricky Chepauk pitch. Looking at their position in the points table now, they are currently at 7th place with 4 wins in their bank out of 10 games.

As mentioned, they have played 10 games to date and managed to win just 4. Although four games are still left, Punjab Kings should try to win all remaining four games to achieve 16 points if they are looking to keep their chances alive for the playoffs.

Looking at their qualification scenario, their playoff chances will highly rely on other teams results. And not just points can save them, but net run rate is going to play a crucial role. The team is not only struggling to achieve points, but they are also lacking in net run rate. To date, they have an NRR of -0.062, which is not impressive still in comparison to the top 5 positioned teams.

Still, looking at the scenario, it seems like PBKS is not far away from catching a flight back home. Although, looking at the tournament’s past history, they might qualify, the necessary requirements are 14 points and a healthy net run rate.

CSK and RR may make things worse for PBKS, but PBKS needs to win all the games at any cost and simultaneously should improve their run rate. Things are pretty clear now, from now on, every game is a must-win for them. If they do, they might finish the league stage at number 4 or number 3.
