A major protest by the Opposition in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is expected as Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Thursday (December 19, 2024) submitted an Adjournment Motion notice in the Lok Sabha, demanding an urgent discussion on remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his speech, and called for both an apology and resignation from the Home Minister.

Both the Houses were adjourned on Wednesday (December 19, 2024) as Opposition MPs continued to raise slogans against Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged derogatory remarks against B.R. Ambedkar. In the Upper House, Trinamool Congress also moved a privilege motion against the Home Minister. No business was transacted in either of the Houses.

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is set to hold a meeting with its MPs in the main committee room of the Parliament Annexe. The party is set to protest outside parliament over the Ambedkar remark row.

Meanwhile, BJP has also called for protest against Congress and Opposition over their demand of resignation over the remark made by Mr. Shah.
