Paris 2024 Paralympic, Closing Ceremony LIVE Updates: The Paris Paralympics came to a glittering end, after India had a Games to remember for a long after they easily topped their medals tally of Tokyo 2020 of 19. Indian para athletes snapped up their highest-ever haul of 29 including 7 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze.
This impressive performance ensured that India end their Paralympics campaign at the 18th position in the medals table which was led by China with 219. India won 17 medals in track and field events with Preethi Pal, Dharambir, Nishad Kumar, Sumit Antil, Deepthi Jeevanji and Praveen Kumar among the athletes who made an impact.
Shooter Avani Lekhara also extended her golden run from Tokyo to win another gold in Women’s 10m Air Rifle event while archer Harvinder Singh snapped up another gold medal in the Men’s Individual Recurve Open.
Harvinder and Preethi, meanwhile, will be India’s flag bearers for the closing ceremony on Sunday night as a month of incredible sporting action in Paris comes to a close.

Even before 17-year-old Sheetal Devi shot herself to a mixed-team bronze medal at Paris 2024, she had become one of the faces of the Paralympic movement, with the world marvelling at her ability. Here was a teenager who was competing in a sport like para archery that demands precision. But more than merely competing, she was redefining the act of archery itself, with the bow held aloft with her right leg and the arrow being released by subtle movements of her upper body, usually involving her shoulder leaning back slightly or her jaw.
