Paris Olympics 2024 India, Day 12 LIVE Updates After their momentous day at the Paris Games on Tuesday, filled with jubilation and heartbreak, India will gear up for more exciting action on Wednesday.
The spotlight will undoubtedly be on superstar wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who grabbed the headlines by smashing her way to the women’s 50kg wrestling final. Vinesh took down the invincible defending champion, Japan’s Yui Sasaki, before asserting dominance over her Ukrainian and Cuban opponents in the quarter-final and semi-final respectively. Vinesh thus became the first Indian woman to reach a wrestling final at the Olympics and will aim to seal the historic gold.

Meanwhile, 2020 Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu will be in action in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event. Having battled several fitness concerns since Tokyo 2021, the 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallist may not be an overwhelming favourite in a field dominated by China’s Hou Zhihui, the reigning Olympic champion.
The iconic Stade de France will also be brimming with Indian athletic action as Avinash Sable will step up for the 3000m steeplechase final as Jyothi Yarraji, Praveen Chitravel, Annu Rani and others will be in qualification action.
The Indian women’s team comprising Manika Batra, Archana Kamath and Sreeja Akula will also go up against Germany in the table tennis quarterfinal in the afternoon.
