BENGALURU: Senior JDS leader HD Revanna withdrew his anticipatory bail petition filed before the special court for elected representatives regarding the obscene video case involving his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna on Friday.
This decision came after the Special Investigation Team submitted that no rape charge has been invoked against the petitioner and added that all the alleged offences are bailable.
Special Public Prosecutor BN Jagadish submitted that since the alleged offences in this case are bailable in nature, the anticipatory bail petition is not maintainable.
Recording the said submission, the presiding officer dismissed Revanna’s petition as withdrawn.
Revanna, the elder son of former PM HD Deve Gowda and a former minister himself, represents the Holenarasipura constituency and is arraigned as accused no. 1 in the case.
The police have invoked sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 against the accused in this case. The SIT had also issued notices under section 41A of CrPC, requiring both HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna for inquiry. However, Prajwal Revanna, who is said to be abroad, has sought seven days’ accommodation.
