Russell’s request for a break comes after his stint in The Hundred. Alzarri Joseph, who was the vice-captain in the T20 World Cup, has also been left out. Shimron Hetmyer has managed to retain his spot in the side despite not having played even a single game in the WC.
“Andre Russell requested a period of rest and recovery as well as Jason Holder who played five back-to-back five Tests against England and South Africa. During this period, they will work closely with the CWI science and medicine team,” said Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket.
