Nilgiris district administration urges tourists, residents with flu-like symptoms to wear masks

Nilgiris district collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, said that the district administration had not imposed any restriction on tourists travelling to the Nilgiris, after recent confirmed cases of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

Ms. Tanneeru said the district administration was monitoring the situation and that health teams have been stationed at all border check-posts to check if any visitors exhibited any symptoms of infection or illness. She urged tourists visiting the district as well as residents exhibiting any symptoms of flu or illness, to wear masks at all times, including when out in public spaces.
