BHUBANESWAR:
External affairs minister
S Jaishankar, addressing
Canada
‘s arrest of three Indian nationals for the killing of
Khalistani separatist
Hardeep Singh Nijjar and the subsequent investigation into their potential ties with the Indian government, said that India will await further information from Canada.
Jaishankar
expressed concern over Canada’s harboring of
separatists
and highlighted the lack of evidence provided when attributing crimes to India within Canadian borders.
“I just saw before coming in that three people have been arrested. They apparently are
Indians
with some kinds of a gang background. We will wait for the (Canada) police to tell us more. But normally, if you don’t have a political agenda, if I say I suspect you, I will produce the proof. We have never been given anything by Canada, which involves the Govt of India. In fact we have repeatedly told if you have something, please give us.”
“One of our concern which we have been telling them (Canadian govt) that they have allowed organized crime, from India, specifically from Punjab to operate from there,” he said.
