IIM Lucknow invites applications for its Doctoral Programme in Management for 2025.

Eligibility: A Master’s degree or its equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks, or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or a four-year graduate degree) with at least 65%; Professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA, or CS with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks and B.Com; a two/three-year full-time classroom-based PGDM from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6/10 or 60%. Applicants must also have a valid score in either CAT, GATE, GRE, GMAT, or JRF/SRF (UGC/CSIR/ICAR), with scores from the last two years being valid.

IIM Mumbai and TalentSprint have launched a PG Diploma in Financial Economics and Management.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s in Engineering, Technology, Economics, Commerce, Management, or Mathematics and Statistics with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories), awarded by any university or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India. XLRI Jamshedpur’s the SIGMA-oikos committee concluded the 16th edition of Daan Utsav with a series of initiatives including blood donation, cloth donation, and more.

The Central University of Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with the National Council for Science and Technology Communication and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, celebrated National Mathematics Day. Over 300 school and college students participated.

IIT Kanpur filed 152 IPRs, the highest number, in a single year, for the fourth consecutive year. This includes 124 patents, 10 design, two copyrights, and six trademark application, along with 7 US, two China and one European patents.

A research team from IIT Guwahati and Bose Institute Kolkata, recently developed an advanced injectable hydrogel for localised cancer treatment. The paper is co-authored by Prof. Debapratim Das, along with research scholars Tanushree Das and Ritvika Kushwaha from IIT Guwahati, and collaborators Kuldip Jana, Satyajit Halder, and Anup Kumar Misra from Bose Institute Kolkata. The research findings have been published in Materials Horizons. Also, the institute’s researchers, led by Prof. Dipankar Bandyopadhyay, Centre for Nanotechnology and Department of Chemical Engineering, developed an approach to improve the detection of cholesterol and triglycerides by integrating Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering on the nanoscale objects. The findings have been published in Biosensors and Bioelectronics, authored by Mitali Basak, Prof. Dipankar Bandyopadhyay and Prof. Harshal B. Nemade.

MIT-WPU’s Space Technology Research Group, in collaboration with ISRO, recently launched its first space payload, STeRG-P1.0 aboard the PSLV-C60. It was developed by students and faculty from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

College Vidya has released the findings of its study on the growing trends in Online Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programmes in India. Pearson released the Pearson Global English Proficiency Report 2024. It provides insights into global English proficiency levels and spotlights regional trends in India, the Philippines, Japan, Egypt, Colombia, and Europe. Keying findings — while India’s average English Skills score (52) is lower than the global average English skills score (57), India’s average English-speaking score (57) is higher (54); India’s average English Writing score (61) is equivalent to the global average, to name a few.

NIIT Foundation’s Digital Bus Initiative was started to bridge the digital divide across India’s remote regions. Currently operating in eight states, the initiative plans to deploy three additional buses. Each bus is a mobile digital classroom with solar power, broadband connectivity, computing devices, video conferencing tools, and printers.

Awards and rankings

IIM Mumbai secured first place in the LEAPS-2024 Award in the Institutions: Education and Skill Development in the Logistics Sector category.

Ishita Mahajan, Krrish Gupta, and Priyanshi Gupta from The Design Village (TDV) won first prize at the Godrej Design Labs competition for their project, Beneath the Surface. It sheds light on the crucial role of mangroves in nature. TDV also won the Don Norman Design Award for its work in Humanity-Centered Design.

Chaya M V, a class VIII student from Presidency School, Bengaluru, bagged the Spell Master of India national title in the SBI Life Spell Bee Season 14.

The Nexus of Good Annual Award honoured Prayoga Institute of Education Research, Bengaluru, for its science education programme, Kriya. It helped over 7,000 students and 200 teachers across 65 schools in Karnataka to approach science as a process of discovery.

Partnerships

NSDC International Limited has signed an MoU with IDP India to enhance the global employability of Indian professionals by bridging gaps in skills and language proficiency. Over the next two years, the programme aims to benefit at least 75,000 skilled professionals.

INTO University Partnerships collaborated with Texas State University. The partnership will focus on international student recruitment across all eligible UG and graduate programmes.

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology has signed an MoU with NASSCOM to enhance the industry-readiness of Engineering students. The collaboration introduces a 300-hour course on embedded systems, specifically designed for students from semesters 4 to 8.

YES Italy signed an MoU with Polimi Garduate School of Management by Politecnico di Milano University in Milan, Italy to strengthen pathways for international students.
