New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah said that the central government has managed to weed out left-wing extremism (LWE) from all over India and Naxalism will be rooted out from the country by March 31, 2026. He was speaking to LWE victims from Chhattisgarh who had come to meet him at his residence in Delhi on Thursday under the aegis of the Bastar Peace Committee. “There was a time when Naxals were spread everywhere and believed they would have a red corridor from Tirupati to Pashupatinath. Today, their influence is just limited to four districts of Chhattisgarh. The Modi government has managed to weed out Naxalism from all over the country. I have been to your state and told the people that by March 31, 2026, Naxalism will be rooted out,” he said.

He said it has been decided that March 31, 2026, will be the day Naxals are given their aakhri salam (last salute). “I promise you that the Naxal menace will end before that,” he said. Shah said that while his residence had seen many guests over the years, the visit by victims of Naxal menace was the most significant.
