NEW DELHI: Maheshwar Rai, the father of

Bibhav Kumar

, who was recently arrested by

Delhi police

in an alleged

assault case

, has expressed his disbelief and called the situation an injustice. Rai stated that his son, who has been working with Delhi CM

Arvind Kejriwal

for the past 15 years, has never been the subject of any complaints during this time.

He also revealed that the BJP has been pressuring Bibhav to leave Kejriwal’s side.
“This is injustice. My son is a simple man. There is a BJP Government in power, it can do whatever it wants. They are telling him to abandon Arvind Kejriwal, then he will not be harmed. He has been with Kejriwal for the last 15 years, but I have never heard any complaint against him. I spoke with him over the phone, he told me that he was having his breakfast and she (

Swati Maliwal

) came to do something big. Guards stopped her and he went there. Guards removed her from there. He didn’t touch her even once. He only told her that he wouldn’t let her meet Kejriwal without asking him. Hearing this, she got angry and threatened him,” Bibhav father said to ANI.
Rai also mentioned that Bibhav had studied at Banaras Hindu University and later practiced journalism in Delhi. Lal Sahib Yadav, a former village head from Bibhav’s hometown of Khudru village in Bihar, vouched for Bibhav’s character, stating that he comes from a social family and is not a person of criminal nature. Yadav believes that the incident is politically motivated and would not have occurred if elections were not being held.
Following his arrest, Bibhav Kumar emailed Delhi Police, expressing his willingness to cooperate with the ongoing investigation into Maliwal’s assault claim. He also requested that the police take cognizance of his complaint, in which he accused Maliwal of unauthorized entry, verbal abuse, and threats, while also alleging BJP’s involvement in the matter.

Meanwhile, Maliwal’s medico-legal case report, filed after a detailed medical examination at AIIMS, Delhi, on May 16, revealed bruises on her left leg and right cheek. The Delhi Police had earlier filed an FIR based on Maliwal’s complaint, which alleged that Bibhav had “slapped” her “at least seven to eight times,” “brutally dragged” her, and “kicked” her in the “chest, stomach, and pelvis area” while she “continued screaming.”
