SHIMLA: The All-Himachal Muslims’ Organisation (AHMO) has announced it will challenge the Shimla municipal commissioner court’s Oct 5 order to demolish the top three illegally built floors of the five-storey
Sanjauli mosque
, despite the masjid committee’s undertaking to bring down the unauthorised portions.
AHMO spokesperson Nazakat Hashmi said after a meeting in Shimla Wednesday that those who had given undertaking before the court to carry out the demolition of the portions constructed beyond permissible limit, were neither office-bearers of any organisation nor authorised by waqf board.
The entire
Muslim community
disagreed with the commissioner court’s order, Hashmi said. “…As soon as we get the certified copy of the order, we will challenge it before the next appellate authority,” he said, adding they were ready to fight the case right up to SC, and would only agree to a
court order
that was “based on facts”.
Meanwhile, the Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti, which spearheaded the protests across
Himachal
demanding demolition of illegally built mosques, on Thursday put up boards outside various shops owned by Hindus in Sanjauli market, identifying them as “Sanatan” establishments, with an appeal to economically boycott Muslim vendors.
