Mumbai hoarding collapse: Billboard owner Bhavesh Bhinde to remain in police custody till May 26

NEW DELHI:

Bhavesh Bhinde

, has been remanded in police custody by a Mumbai court till May 26 in the hoarding collapse incident which claimed the life of 16 people and injured 75.
Bhinde, the owner of

Ego Media

and the main accused in the

Ghatkopar billboard collapse

case, was arrested by the

Mumbai Police

in a ‘top secret operation’ from the a hotel situated in Goverdhan vilas area of Udaipur on Thursday.

As per the civic body, Bhinde’s agency did not have a permit from the BMC to put up the hoarding. A case was registered against 51-year-old Bhinde and others for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other relevant sections of the IPC at Pant Nagar police station, stated the police
The billboard owner is also rape accused and has been penalised at least 21 times in the past for putting up illegal hoardings. Earlier this year, he was booked under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC at Mulund police station but was granted anticipatory bail.
