on Sunday set a
world record
for planting the maximum number of trees within 24 hours in
Indore
.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav received a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records for the achievement.
“More than 12 lakh trees were planted in Indore within 24 hours. The title of this Guinness world record was ‘Most trees planted by a team within 24 hours’.
We started this record on July 13 at 7:03 pm, and it continued till today by 7:03 pm. The good thing is that Indore broke the old record at 5 pm. Assam held the old record for planting 9,26,000 trees in 24 hours. The numbers will be released later. However, we have handed the certificate of the new world record to CM Mohan Yadav,” said Guinness World Record consultant Nishchal Barot.
Earlier in the day, participating in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ programme in Indore, Union home minister

said that the city, which is known for its cleanliness, food and good governance will also be known as
green city
after planting

Last month, on the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and called upon everyone, in India and across the world, to plant a tree in the coming days as a tribute to their mother.
Addressing the gathering on Sunday, Amit Shah said, “The whole country will witness when 11 lakh saplings will be planted here in Indore. Today every person across the country will plant a tree in the name of his mother and pay respect to his mother and Mother Earth.”
“I have come to Indore, a city that is known across the country for cleanliness, food, good governance and cooperation. From today onwards, Indore will also be known after the plantation of saplings in the name of the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam program,” he added, according to news agency ANI.
“Environmental protection has been one of the biggest priorities of the Modi government and the government has made tree plantation a matter of public awareness. Also, this afternoon I will inaugurate 55 Prime Minister Colleges of Excellence in all the districts of Madhya Pradesh,” Shah further stated, Amit Shah said.
