Veteran actor
Irrfan Khan
‘s passing in 2020 marked the end of a remarkable 35-year career in the world of cinema, leaving the nation and his loved ones in shock. Recently, actress
Mita Vashisht
, who was in the same batch as Irrfan at the
National School of Drama
(NSD), recounted a poignant experience about the actor’s demise.
In an interview with Lallantop, Mita revealed that just ten days before Irrfan’s death, she had a
dream
where she was having a conversation with him.
In this dream, Irrfan expressed that they hadn’t met for a long time. The conversation, filled with laughter, lasted for about 45 minutes. When Mita woke up, she felt an unexpected sense of peace. She shared her premonition, stating that she felt he might leave soon, perhaps in a day or two. She had a strong sense that he wouldn’t survive.

Concerned and hopeful for a chance to meet him, Mita contacted a friend to inquire about Irrfan’s whereabouts. However, at that time, Irrfan was spending his final days in the close company of his family. When the news of his passing broke during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mita recalled being approached by
Ashok Kumar Bhagat
, who informed her about the
funeral
.
At the funeral, Mita noticed the presence of many people seemingly unconnected to Irrfan, gathered in front of the media cameras. As she was not permitted to enter the cemetery due to her gender, she stood near the barricade, watching the procession. She recounted a bittersweet moment when the procession, initially heading in a different direction, changed course and passed by her. She laughed and thought, ‘Look, he came to say goodbye.’ It gave her a sense of closure.
