Massive protest erupts in Ladakh over Sonam Wangchuk’s detention by Delhi police

Massive protests have erupted in Ladakh following the detention of renowned activist Sonam Wangchuk on September 30. Wangchuk and other volunteers were embarking on a foot march from Leh to New Delhi to urge the Centre to resume dialogue with Ladakh’s leadership. They demand that Ladakh be included in Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, granting law-making powers to the local population to protect their land, cultural identity. Activist Wangchuk along with many of his supporters were detained by Delhi police at the Singhu border. The Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Apex Body, Leh have called for a bandh across Ladakh
