NEW DELHI: Manipur govt on Thursday disbursed Rs 300 crore through
direct benefit transfers
(DBT) to four lakh beneficiaries under 46 state and central schemes, . The primary focus of the drive was on internally-displaced people affected the
ethnic conflicts
that erupted in May 2023.
This assistance included Rs 32 crore for those in
relief camps
and
displaced families
from the Kuki and Meitei tribes.
On Thursday, Rs 25,000 per family, totalling Rs 15 crore, was released as the first instalment of the recently announced ‘special assistance of Rs 1 lakh per family’ for displaced families in relief camps, benefiting approximately 6,000 displaced families.
Govt also launched the chief minister’s Yarn Scheme to support handloom weavers and artisans by providing yarn at reasonable prices with govt subsidy. Additionally, the govt launched Sportspersons Livelihood Guarantee Scheme, aimed at benefiting retired sportspersons.
