Aamir Khan
started his movie career with the 1988 film ‘
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
.’ This movie marked his debut as a new generation hero in Hindi cinema. He acted alongside
Juhi Chawla
in the film. In a recent interview,
Makarand Deshpande
, who had a small role in the movie, remembered a
funny moment
when he laughed at Aamir when he introduced himself as the hero.
Makarand also shared a memory of convincing the director,
Mansoor Khan
, to let his character beat up Aamir’s character in the movie.
In an interview with YouTuber Siddharth Kannan, Makarand recollected he knew Aamir as a young one who would often assist in backstage work during his plays. Makarand was asked to go and meet Mansoor Khan for the film and wasn’t aware that Aamir is from the same family. When he met Aamir at the office, he coyly said that he is the hero. Makarand looked at him and laughed at his face.
Makarand met Juhi Chawla during the shoot and there he realized that she is the leading lady. It was her acting debut.
The Great Indian Kapil Show: Aamir Khan shares the secret of his ageless beauty
Makarand once convinced Mansoor that he wanted to beat Aamir in the movie. The young actor was lean at the time but Makarand was trained in martial arts. He showed Mansoor some moves and he was convinced about it. He believed that Aamir would not be able to beat Makarand. So he allowed the action scene.
But after watching the clip,
Nasir Hussain
instructed Mansoor to re-shoot the portion because the ‘hero’ can’t get beaten up this way. If he gets beaten up this early, then it will not work. So Nasir wanted him to fight a little so he could be the hero.
