The second part of the Budget session commenced on Monday, March 10 in the Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha of the Parliament. Various Bills and standing committee reports are slated for presentation in the session, which follows proceedings from the first Budget session of the year in February. Issues in the spotlight are the National Education Policy and the provision of three languages – English, Hindi and the state mother tongue or an alternate regional language which is facing resistance from DMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu. Other issues in focus include electoral roll manipulation, violence in Manipur, passing the Waqf Amendment Bill and India’s tackling of Trump 2.0.
