Kolkata protests: BJP’s Pramanik criticises WB Police’s response, calls for ‘Presidential rule’

BJP leader Nisith Pramanik condemned the West Bengal Police’s use of water cannons, tear gas, and lathi charges during peaceful protest over the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case, which left 17 women party workers injured. Pramanik also informed that he and 24 other party workers were detained during the demonstration at the DM office. He further demanded presidential rule in the state alleging disruption in law and order situation. BJP leader Nisith Pramanik said, “In every district of the state the party had decided to go to the DM office and give them a deputation…We raised slogans of ‘we want justice’ and staged a peaceful protest. Everyone saw how the West Bengal Police used water cannons, tear gas and lathi charges…Around 17 women party workers were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries due to lathi charges…Along with 24 party workers even I was detained…If law and order situation in West Bengal don’t become stable soon, then we demand Presidential rule here…”
