Kartik Aaryan reveals his most emotional scene in ‘Chandu Champion’: “Everyone forgot to say cut”

‘, opened up about shooting the most emotional scene of the film. Speaking with Jeet Ka Geet’s Suchitra Tyagi, Kartik described the powerful moment when the National Anthem played after his character’s victory.
Sharing his experience, Kartik recalled, “The first shot we filmed was Jan-Gan-Man, the National Anthem scene, where Murlikant had just won the race. When the anthem began and the medal was placed on me, I was on the wheelchair on the podium. It was such an overwhelming moment that everyone forgot to say cut. I was crying, and those were genuine tears of victory. The entire set turned emotional.”
Kartik revealed that the scene was the first one filmed for the movie. Director Kabir Khan had initially asked him if he would need glycerin for the performance, but Kartik declined. “I told Kabir sir that glycerin doesn’t work for me. I said, ‘Sir, let me go through that thought, and it will happen.’ When the scene began and the National Anthem played, everything else just disappeared. It was a deeply emotional moment for all of us,” Kartik said.

The actor also shared a video clip from his interview on his social media, captioning it as the most memorable moment from the film. The raw emotion during the shoot underscored the profound story of Murlikant Petkar, who overcame physical and emotional challenges to become India’s first Paralympics gold medallist.
Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion is a 2024 Hindi-language biographical sports drama based on the inspiring journey of Petkar. The film aims to celebrate his indomitable spirit and the pride he brought to India on the global stage.
As Kartik mentioned, starting the film with such a powerful scene set the tone for the journey of portraying Murlikant Petkar. “It wasn’t just acting; it was living the moment of victory for someone who truly earned it,” he added.
