On February 7, 2017, Karan Johar welcomed his twins,
Yash and Roohi
, through surrogacy. Yash was named to honor Karan’s late father, Yash Johar, and Roohi’s name is derived from his mother Hiroo Johar’s name. The actor regularly shares their heartwarming moments on social media, where they have built a significant fan base. Their family moments charm fans, although some trolls ask about their mother.
Karan Johar talked about how people warned him against being a single parent, but his mother, Hiroo Johar, was very supportive.
On the Jai Madaan—Lady of Fortune show, he said he now tries to live without regret or guilt. “I never want to have regret; I do what I want to do. I live unapologetically. A lot of people have given me a lot of advice. When I decided to do Koffee with Karan, they told me I was making a mistake by overexposing myself. They would say that a director should have some mystique and that they should be behind the camera. I broke those myths,” he said.
Karan also shared that many people questioned his decision to have children, asking, ‘Are you sure? Log kya kahenge, samaaj kya kahega (What will society say)?’ But Karan didn’t let that bother him because he had his mother’s blessings. The filmmaker continued, “I said, ‘Why should I be bothered about what people say when I have my mother’s blessings?’ My mother was so supportive. She said immediately, ‘You want to have a child of your own without a partner; please go ahead. But make sure, because it’s a very big responsibility’. Watching someone grow up in front of you and develop their own personalities is a big deal.”
A few months back, Karan talked about being single for a long time and his decision to stop looking for a partner. He told Faye D’souza that he has only had “one and a half relationships” in his life. Despite actively seeking fellowship in his 40s, he stopped searching after turning 50.
