NEW DELHI: Actor-turned BJP politician Kangana Ranaut has landed herself in a spot after a fumble in which she mentions her own party colleague mistakenly instead of an

opposition leader

because of the similarity in names.
The politician from the BJP contesting in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, with the intention to target the opposition RJD leader

Tejashwi Yadav

, mistakenly ended up mentioning the name of BJP’s Bengaluru South MP

Tejasvi Surya

in her fumble.

There is a party of spoilt ‘shehzaadas’ (princes). They themselves don’t know where to go. Be it Rahul Gandhi, who wants to grow potatoes on the moon, or Tejasvi Surya, who indulges in hooliganism and eats fish,” she said.
Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, was intended to be the focus of her criticism due to a video where he was seen eating fish, which sparked a significant controversy between the BJP and the opposition.

Meanwhile, Tejasvi Yadav responding to the clip of Kangana Ranaut’s statement said, “Ye mohtarma kaun hai?” (Who is this lady?), he posted on X.

At the rally, Kangana Ranaut also attacked the Congress, including late leaders, due to which the party lodged a complaint against her with the Election Commission.
“Motilal Nehru, the father of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, was Ambani of his time but no one knows where his wealth and property came from. He was close to the British, and from where he got the wealth is still a secret,” she said.

Kangana Ranaut has been criticising the Congress party verbally ever since the BJP nominated her as their Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Vikramaditya Singh and Rahul Gandhi, who are Congress leaders and her opponents in Mandi, have been the primary focus of her criticism.
“Nobody knows how Jawaharlal Nehru became the prime minister as voting was in favour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”. Since then, this “‘deemak’ (termite) of dynastic rule has infected the country. On one hand, we have a ‘tapasvion ke sarkar’ (BJP government), and on the other we have ‘bhoogion ke sarkar’ (Congress) made up of small gangs of ‘shehzaadas’. One is in Delhi and the other is here (in Himachal Pradesh),” Ranaut said, in a veiled reference to Vikramaditya Singh, the Congress candidate pitted against the actor in Mandi.
The Congress responded by stating that the 37-year-old actor should verify the facts about her party leaders and address the issue of dynastic politics. Amrit Kaur, the National Media Coordinator for the Congress, also raised doubts about her qualifications that led to her receiving a BJP ticket from Mandi.
The Mandi Lok Sabha constituency is scheduled to participate in the voting process on June 1, during the seventh phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
