The Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Amritsar chief,

Simranjit Singh Mann

has come under fire for his comments against actress and BJP MP, Kangana Ranaut.
As the SAD’s Delhi unit urged the

Central Board of Film Certification

(

CBFC

) to stop the release of the Ranaut-starrer ‘Emergency’, citing the potential to incite communal tension and spread misinformation, the party’s Amritsar Chife came under fire for his remarks.

In a clip posted on ANI, a journalist asks Mann to share his comments on Kangana’s allegations that “bodies were seen hanging and rapes were taking place,” at the farmer’s protests. He said, “I don’t want to say this but (Kangana) Ranaut has a lot of experience of rape and you can ask her how rape happens so that people can be explained how rape happens…”
Watch the video below:

Clapping back at Mann, Ranaut said, “It seems this country will never stop trivialising rape, today this senior politician compared getting raped to riding a bicycle no wonder rapes and violence against women for fun, is so deep rooted in the psyche of this patriarchal nation that it is casually used to tease or mock a women even if she is a high profile filmmaker or politician.”

Ranaut has been on the receiving end for her comments on the farmer’s protest which elicited sharp responses from various political parties. She met party president JP Nadda at his residence.

On Wednesday, the actress even admitted that she was reprimanded by the BJP, over her remarks on the farmer’s protest, and said, “She is looking forward to being more careful with her words and aligning to the party’s policies.”
Meanwhile, in their letter to the CBFC on Wednesday, the SAD party’s Delhi president Paramjit Singh Sarna said the trailer of the film ‘Emergency’, which was released recently, “depicts erroneous historical facts that not only misrepresent the Sikh community but also promote hatred and social discord”.

Sarna said, “Given the potential of this film to incite communal tensions and spread misinformation, I strongly urge the CBFC to exercise its authority to prevent its release.”
He said that a “thick line must be drawn between the right to freedom of speech and the propagation of hateful content that threatens the harmony of our society”.
‘Emergency’ marks Ranaut’s first release after being elected an MP on a BJP ticket from Mandi, in her native Himachal Pradesh. The film is slated to release on September 6.
