, former judge of the Supreme Court, has been appointed chairman of the

National Human Rights Commission

(NHRC).
“In exercise of the power conferred on me by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, I, Droupadi Murmu, President of India, do hereby appoint Shri Justice V. Ramasubramanian (Retd), to be the chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,” read a warrant0020issued by the Union govt.
