The Army will continue to be posted in the Golden Temple complex until all the arms are recovered and the complex is cleared of dangerous explosives and weapons, it was stated by the government. Diplomat Resigns

The Indian Charge d’Affairs to Norway, Harinder Singh, said that he has resigned his post in protest against the Army action in the Golden Temple complex and has sought political asylum in Norway. Union Bank Looted

Six armed men looted Rs 1.5 lakh in Indian and foreign currency from the Sunder Nagar branch of the Union Bank of India. Brandishing knives and pistols, the dacoits forced the staff of the bank and the customers to keep their eyes on the ground and sit under the counter while the accountant and cashier were pushed into the strongroom to open the safe. They escaped after locking the employees and customers inside the strongroom.

Breach In Canal

The Gang Canal, the lifeline of most of the Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan, developed a breach near Faridkot. Reports indicate that the breach, which occurred near Chok village, was about 20 feet wide. It could not be ascertained if the breach was caused by the terrorists or if it occurred due to the weakening of the embankment.
