JAMMU: Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths in Jammu & Kashmir have registered a case against a

retired tehsildar

(revenue officer) and a former patwari (village accountant) on charges of corruption.
In 2010, Balwant Singh and Mohd Rafiq illegally transferred land in favour of beneficiaries by effecting entries in favour of them, said an ACB spokesperson.
A case has been registered against Balwant, then tehsildar at Rajouri, Mohd Rafiq, then patwari at Rehtal, and beneficiaries Kanwal Singh, Masood Anwar.

In a land mutation case, Balwant, in lieu of undue benefits, allegedly conspired with Kanwal and declared him tenant-at-will ignoring other heirs, the ACB spokesperson said.
Further investigation in the case is on, he added.
