Following his fiery performance against Australia in the 1st Test at Perth where he took 8 wickets in 2 innings as well as captained the side to a 295-run win, Jasprit Bumrah was nominated for the Men’s ICC player of the month for November.
Bumrah is one of the three contenders for the award which also includes South Africa’s Marco Jansen and Pakistan’s Haris Rauf.
Last month, Bumrah had also regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after his magnificent performance in Perth.

Bumrah’s spellbinding hauls of five for 30 and three for 42 helped him overtake Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada to reach a career-best 883 rating points, the highest rating points tally ever by an India seam bowler. Only spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (904) and Ravindra Jadeja (899) have recorded higher point tallies among Indian bowlers.
This was the third time that Bumrah has been atop the rankings this year. He was top ranked for two one-month stretches each starting in February and October.
Meanwhile, Jansen was impressive in the T20I series against India before taking 7 wickets in an innings against Sri Lanka in the Durban Test which the Proteas won by 233 runs
Rauf is nominated for inspiring Pakistan’s first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
The ICC women’s player of the month contenders for November include Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter, South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk and Danni Wyatt-Hodge of England.
Akhter led from the front in her side’s opening ODI duels over Ireland in Mirpur, whereas de Klerk topped the run-scoring and wicket-taking charts for South Africa in their T20I series against England to earn her place among the nominees. The visitors can boast opener Wyatt-Hodge on the shortlist after a sparkling set of scores helped England claim the series 3-0.
