A capacity Salt Lake Stadium exploded in wild celebrations as Dimitri Petratos fetched the winner in the third minute of added time to help Mohun Bagan SG prevail over 10-man Odisha FC by a solitary goal in an ISL-11 fixture on Sunday.
The win ensured Bagan retained the League Shield with an insurmountable 52 points from 22 matches and two matches to spare.
The host was held goalless by a resolute Odisha in regulation time, before Petratos, who came on as in the 78th minute, performed the heroic act.
Having won the shield with a win over Mumbai City FC in the last league match in the previous season, Bagan showed more authority with a series of superlative performances (that sank a number of records in the process) in the current season to make this conquest even more memorable for its fans.
This is the first time in the ISL that any team has won the league championship for two successive seasons.
