After celebrating his wife Shibani Akhtar’s birthday, filmmaker- actor
Farhan Akhtar
has traveled to
Ladakh
to shoot his next film. Taking to social media he wrote “Back in Ladakh after
Lakshya
and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to shoot for a very special film.” Following the post, his followers began to flood the comment section speculating if he’s there for Don 3 or Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 2.
However, ETimes has exclusively learnt that Farhan is in Ladakh for an acting role. In March this year he had stated in an interview that he will be returning to acting after a gap of three years. His last film was Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Toofan.
A source close to the development stated that Farhan’s next is to be directed by
Razneesh Ghai
, who last directed Kangana Ranaut and
Arjun Rampal
starrer Dhaakad. Our source also said that Farhan and Razneesh’s project is mostly based on the battle of Rezang La (Ladakh area) which was fought during the
Indo-China War
of 1962. Rezang La shone as a beacon of valor for India during the 1962 Indo-China conflict, the battle tells the story of 120 Indian soldiers of
Charlie Company 13 Kumaon
, led by
Major Shaitan Singh
, which will be played by Farhan. They took on nearly 5,000 Chinese soldiers, wherein over 1300 Chinese soldiers were killed , while 110 Indian soldiers attained martyrdom. The battle thwarted the Chinese PLA’s attempts to breach the critical ridge into the Chushul Valley, thus saving Ladakh from falling into the hands of Chinese intruders. The same location was also the spot of skirmishes during the 2020 stand off between the two countries. The Indian army built a war memorial in the memory of soldiers who died protecting the country.
Razneesh has been trying to make this film for a while now and the story is extremely close to him, as he also belongs to the army background with his father and brother having served in the armed forces.
