Mayank Yadav recently made his international debut against Bangladesh in the 1st T20I played in Gwalior.
IPL 2025: Mayank Yadav recently impressed on his debut for team India against Bangladesh. After making his debut for team India, Mayank Yadav has also created a headache for his IPL franchise, LSG. As per the IPL retention rules, any ‘uncapped player’ transitioning into an international player before the IPL auction is classified as a ‘capped player.’
This categorization increases their retention cost to Rs 18 crore for the first choice, Rs 14 crore for the second, and Rs 11 crore for the third. As a result, LSG will have to spend at least Rs 11 crore to retain Mayank Yadav services for IPL 2025.
“There is no way that LSG will put a rare bowler like Mayank back in the auction pool. They have invested in him for the past two seasons and he will certainly be one among the top three retentions,” an unnamed IPL insider was quoted as saying by PTI.
While LSG’s 2024 roster boasts big names such as KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis, the franchise’s leadership, including head coach Justin Langer and new mentor Zaheer Khan, recognize the uniqueness of Mayank’s raw pace and potential.
As stated above, Mayank made his debut against Bangladesh and started his international career with a maiden. The express pacer bowled with speed and looked threatening in his four overs. Considering all the factors, LSG might retain Mayank Yadav for IPL 2025 even if they have shell out big bucks for him.
