An international drug syndicate, involved in smuggling drugs worth several crore into the country, was busted after its mastermind was arrested on Friday, the police said.
The arrested man has been identified as Lokesh Dhingra and an FIR has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, an officer said.
According to DCP (Crime Branch) Satish Kumar, the gang imported 48 kg of marijuana worth about ₹25 crore over three months with the help of the dark web, cryptocurrency and fake documents. They strategically avoided the detection procedures for commercial quantities of contraband and illegally acquired assets worth ₹1.5 crore, he added.
