NEW DELHI: Chairman and CEO of

Berkshire Hathaway

Warren Buffett is optimistic about India and said that there are a lot of opportunities when asked if Berkshire was actively seeking opportunities in India during the company’s annual meeting on Sunday.
Buffett suggested that Berkshire, which focuses on acquiring and managing businesses across various industries, could explore the

untapped potential

in India.

“In India, I am sure that there are loads of opportunities in a place like India, and the question is do we have any advantage, in either insights into those businesses or contacts that will make possible for some transactions that participants in India would particularly want us to participate,” said Buffet.
“I would say that’s something that more energetic management at Berkshire could pursue because we do have a reputation now and is known around the world and our Japanese experience has been fascinating. In that respect, so there may be an unexplored or unattended to opportunities and area (in India),” Buffet added.

The veteran investor hinted at a possible entry into the Indian market, indicating that it wouldn’t take long for Berkshire to pursue opportunities in the country and the new management would make decisions regarding investments in India.
