India and Bangladesh on Saturday signed several agreements, strengthening ties in the maritime and blue economy, during the discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, who is currently on a visit to India.
These pacts focus on establishing strong partnerships in the digital realm and fostering a “

.” Additionally, an agreement on railway connectivity was also inked between the two nations.
“Today we have prepared a futuristic vision for cooperation in new areas. The youth of both the countries will benefit from the consensus reached on cooperation in areas such as green partnership,

digital partnership

, blue economy and space,” said PM Modi.
“India is our major neighbour, trusted friend and regional partner. Bangladesh greatly values our relations with India, which were born out of the War of Liberation in 1971. I recall with gratitude the contribution of the government and the people of India to Bangladesh’s independence,” said Hasina.

Bangladeshi PM also paid homage to soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the 1971 war.
Additionally, she mentioned the productive meetings held during her visit, where discussions covered cooperation in various fields, including security, trade, connectivity, sharing of water from common rivers, power and energy, and regional and multilateral cooperation.
Hasina’s two-day visit to India, which began on Friday, marks the first incoming bilateral state visit by a foreign leader following the formation of the new government after the Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier, she paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
