Yuzvendra Chahal has finally opened up following his selection in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024
Star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his delight at being named in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Speaking to broadcasters ahead of the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chahal called the selection his ‘biggest’ achievement.
Chahal’s inclusion came after a period of uncertainty. Despite consistent performances, he was overlooked for the T20 World Cup in 2021 and didn’t get playing time during the 2022 edition despite being part of the squad.

However, Chahal revealed his unwavering commitment to the sport and expressed joy after his selection. He continued to play domestic cricket during his time away from the national team. “When I was not playing for India, I was playing regular domestic T20 cricket, kept playing limited overs matches as well,” he said.

He considers this a significant milestone in his career, even requesting congratulations specifically for this achievement. “I think you should congratulate me on my World Cup inclusion (for which reason Chahal prefers to be congratulated by Murali Kartik). Returning to the Indian team is a big achievement for me. I think last July I played in US. When I was not playing for India, I was playing regular domestic T20 cricket. I kept playing limited overs matches as well.“

The match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) marks Yuzvendra Chahal’s 300th match in his T20 career. He has become only the 11th Indian to achieve the incredible feat. Moreover, Chahal stands on the brink of creating another history as he is only 1 wicket away from becoming the first Indian to complete 350 T20 wickets.
