England star Jadon Sancho appeared to take a dig at parent club Manchester United after playing a starring role in Chelsea’s 4-3 win against Tottenham on Sunday.
Sancho is currently on loan at the London club after leaving United following a tiff with the then Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag.
“From the very first day, (Chelsea) made me feel welcome. I know I have a lot of people to prove wrong, and I’m just working hard every day in training. When I get my opportunity, I try to show what I can do. Today, I am happy that I scored and helped secure three points for the team,” the 24-year-old said.
“Again, I’m just taking it game by game, and hopefully, I can continue this form. I have to say thank you to the whole Chelsea team and the staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play,” he added.
Sancho is currently in good form, scoring 2 goals in his last 2 matches in the Premier League with Chelsea sitting pretty in the 2nd position, just 4 points behind league leaders Liverpool. The Merseysiders, however, have one game in hand due to their fixture against Everton cancelled on Saturday because of Storm Darragh.
On Sunday, in a wild London derby, Chelsea conceded twice in the opening 11 minutes before recovering brilliantly for a 4-3 win at Tottenham. Cole Palmer sealed the comeback with an impudent “Panenka” penalty — one of his two converted spot kicks in the match.
The Blues’ only losses in the league have been to Manchester City — in the opening round, way before the champion’s recent meltdown — and Liverpool. They’ve won their last four league games, scoring 14 goals in the process.
