Overall, there have been three instances where a super over was played out in T20 World Cup to decide the winner.
Pakistan and USA played the fourth super over in the T20 World Cup history as the latter won the match on June 6 (Thursday). It was close fought match as hosts held their nerves to secure a win. Before this match, Namibia and Oman had also played a super over in the T20 World Cup 2024, where Namibia emerged the winners.

Sri Lanka faced New Zealand in the first Super Over on 27th September 2012 where the Asian side won the game while defending 13 off the one-over face-off. The Kiwis made 7 in their six balls batting first.
The second Super Over came five days later as the Kiwis found themselves in another one over game. This time too the Kiwis lost the game when the West Indies chased down 18 runs in the one-over contest.
After Namibia failed to chase five runs off the final over against Oman on Monday (June 3), the game went into the Super Over. Namibia’s batter David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus powered Namibia to 21 and then Wiese rolled his arm with the ball, restricting Oman to 10 in reply.
The latest super over in T20 World Cups came again in 2024 during the PAK vs USA game where both the teams ended up scoring 159 each. Then in the super over, USA batted first and scored 18, while Pakistan could only manage 13/1.
