The Hockey India League Auction kicked off in New Delhi, featuring over 550 players. The Day 2 is currently underway.
Hockey India League Auction 2024 LIVE: The day 2 started with a bang as the Soorma Hockey Club bagged Victor Wegnez from Belgium for a premium of INR 40 lakh. Ky Willott of Australia gets Rs 10.5 lakh, he joins the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers. The steal buy of the day came when UP bagged Simranjeet Singh for only 10 lakh. Delhi also threw in a surprise by bagging Aussie Timothy for a massive 28L. Young Indian forward Uttam Singh is bought by the Tamil Nadu Dragons for 23 lakh.
Teams need to be careful here, as they have a sizeable number of Indian players to be bought, plus the juniors as well. Dispan Tirkey was the most notable name there, who attracted a bid of 6.6L. Not just that, another India discard, Devindar Walmiki was bagged by Toofans for 8L. Meanwhile, the post-lunch session started with Indian mid-fielders with a base price of 5L.
But the biggest surprise of the day came when young Indian forward Aditya Lalage sparked a bidding war, and was sold to Delhi SG Pipers for a massive 21 lakh. Another surprise was Maninder Singh going for 26L to Soorma.

Team Purse and Player Categories
Each team in the HIL will have a budget of ₹4 crores to spend on players, who are divided into three base price categories: ₹2 lakhs, ₹5 lakhs, and ₹10 lakhs. The teams will be picking players over the next two days as they assemble their squads.
Team composition in HIL 2024
Each team must include 24 players in total. This will consist of 16 Indian players, out of which four must be junior players, along with 8 overseas players.
