While this win keeps England’s hopes alive, their fate still rests on the outcome of the match between Australia and Scotland. Depending on the result, they might still be eliminated.

England’s T20 World Cup defence remains a possibility after a crucial 41-run victory (DLS method) against Namibia.

Must-win game for England

Facing elimination after a rocky start to the tournament, England knew they needed a win against Namibia to maintain their title fight.

Enter Harry Brook, who delivered a spectacular batting performance, scoring a crucial 47 runs off just 20 balls.

Rain delays and DLS adjustments

The match was interrupted by rain, leading to a reduction in overs from the planned 11-a-side to 10-a-side. This meant Namibia needed a revised target of 127 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method (DLS) to win.

England’s bumpy start

England’s batting innings began shakily, with openers Jos Buttler and Phil Salt falling cheaply.

Jonny Bairstow and Brook steadied the ship with a 56-run partnership. Moeen Ali (16) provided further support before Liam Livingstone was run out on the last ball.

Namibia chase falters

Despite a valiant effort, Namibia fell short of the target. Openers Zane Green and Michael van Lingen started well, but Green retired hurt after a decent partnership.

David Wiese, promoted up the order, showed glimpses of brilliance with some big hits, but England’s bowling attack, led by a resurgent Brook who took two crucial catches, restricted them to 84 runs.
