Glamorgan almost pulled off a heist against Gloucestershire chasing an improbable target of 593 at the college ground in Cheltenham. The former just fell short by one run as the final wicket fell off the last ball of the game with Glamorgan ending up at 592 all out in 152 overs and the match ending up in a tie.

In the first innings, both teams were bowled out for low scores with Gloucestershire making 179 and Glamorgan taking a slender lead as they managed to get to 197.

However, in the second innings, the pitch got better for batting and both teams piled on runs. Courtesy of James Bracey’s double ton Gloucestershire made 610/5. In the chase, Glamorgan skipper Sam Northeast scored 187 runs.

However, in a thrilling finish, Jamie McIlroy the final batter for Glamorgan edged one to keeper Bracey off Ajeet Dale’s bowling ending the match in a tie.

If Glamorgan had won the game it would have been the highest fourth-innings chase in the history of first-class cricket. The best is held by South Zone who chased down 536 runs against West Zone in the Duleep Trophy in Indian domestic first-class cricket. The fourth innings total from Glamorgan is the third-highest total of all time.
